| On-going Activities in the Ward Strathcona Secondary Plan A study is being conducted to prepare an updated land use plan and community strategy for the Strathcona Neighbourhood. This area is located north of Main St., south of the CN Rail line, east of Highway 403 and west of Queen St., shown on the map below. The Strathcona Secondary Plan Study is being carried out by the Community Planning and Design Section of the Planning and Economic Development Department. This study will be completed in cooperation with City departments and community residents. Public participation is an important part of the planning process, which will include several public meetings and an advisory committee. The purposes of the study are to: - prepare a current land use plan to identify future uses for each property;
- provide policies to guide the type, density and design of future development;
- identify opportunities for redevelopment and intensification; and,
- address issues related to parks, community services, traffic, parking, property standards, public health, other municipal services and other local concerns.
The first Public Forum was held on January 26. This was the first of several public meetings for this study. The purpose of the forum was to outline the study process and jointly identify important issues affecting this area. All property owners, business people and residents in the area were invited to attend to provide their comments and input. More information will soon be posted on the City of Hamilton website.
